Fully digital charity impact report

The Physiological Society are a membership charity that brings together over 4,000 scientists from over 60 countries to make significant contributions to our knowledge of biological systems and the treatment of disease.

Adept have been working with The Physiological Society for many years now on the design and print of their annual impact report. The charity saw that there was an opportunity to share their impact with a wider audience by creating a fully digital version of the report too.

Design and digital

Digital impact reports allow an organisation to incorporate videos to tell stories and make their content even more engaging through animation and transitions. Adept have worked with many charities on the design and development of their digital impact reports, and these are projects that we relish as we can combine our design and digital skills and produce something extra special.

We initially worked with The Physiological Society to review their content, to understand how we could break down the complex information into easily digestible sections and create an innovative way to navigate through it.

Our aim was for the digital impact report to be bold and informative, using large photographs alongside rendered images and illustrations to instantly grab a reader’s attention, and pulling out key information in infographics to keep them engaged with the complex content.

The digital impact report was designed and developed to be fully responsive, on all device types from big screens down to mobile. This made it easily shared – especially during the pandemic, when teams were based remotely – reaching people who wouldn’t have otherwise come into contact with the printed report.

Wider reach

The Physiological Society were extremely pleased with how the Digital Impact Report came together, to share the story of their year in a more accessible way. In support, we also designed and printed a cross-folded leaflet containing condensed information, which was distributed to invite people to view the full report online.

As part of the Society’s innovative approach to their marketing, they shared their digital impact report via email and across their social media, allowing them to expand their reach.

We set up Google Analytics to enable them to monitor engagement, and thanks to the success of the project, the digital impact report became part of their ongoing marketing strategy.
